training for high alititude exploration

Granted, the Matterhorn is only at 14K ft, but it’s still a challenge, mentally and physically. I have based my training on what tri-athletes do.

You obviously have to ease yourself into the rigorous training system buy utilizing some sort of step program. I started with swimming, and now I am up to 5K meters a week. As soon as I make the move to 20K meters a week (which will be in about 2 months), I will cut the amount of days that it takes me to achieve 20K meters or so in half, and then add a cycling regime, and then obviously a running program. The intensity of this workout is very personal as I am wanting to establish a foundation for future ascents,  triathlons, etc.

All in all, you need to be in very good shape before you plan on adding extra policy’s to your life insurance.

    Hey there. That’s exciting that you’re gonna be doing some climbing. I’m gonna be training for some mountain ascents myself starting in about a month. I found a site that has a pretty good plan. It’s a little extreme for a 14er…but you’d definitely be in shape if you did it. Here it is:
