A Little Closer To Heaven

It’s raining, it’s pouring.

But I wasn’t snoring.

I was wide awake with my camera out.

We’ve been getting hammered with rain lately and I’m actually loving it! All this rain has brought several beautiful double rainbows to the area and I was lucky enough to snap these great photos of the one across the street from my house:

I also stayed outside for hours trying to get some lightning pictures to no avail. Oh well, there’s a lot more storms coming later this week and I’m sure I’ll get a chance to try again.

Hey everyone. My life has been VERY crazy this week. I won’t bore you all with the details but the short version goes like this: I’m heading to Richmond, Virginia on business and I won’t be able to post for a few days. Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Today, I officially give everyone permission to stop thinking about the outdoors and to skip that hike you really want to go on in order to spend time with that special someone. I know that’s what I’ll be doing…I love you, Sara!

No canoeing this weekend. The river came up as quickly as it came down. My buddy Troy and I did, however, get some time to bushwack some of the Upper Buffalo Wilderness. Not only that, we got to see a young elk hanging out in someone’s front yard. It wasn’t scared of us at all! The elk around here are waay to habituated to humans! You can see the video here . It may offend those who think we were harassing it…but seriously…does it look bothered by us? The funniest part was when it tried to go inside that barn behind it:

We watched it and laughed for a while and then headed out for our hike…what a Saturday!
