That’s right everyone. My big announcement! In about a month, I’ll be moving away from the Ozarks. Far away from the ozarks.
I just took a youth ministry job in Richmond, Virginia and I’m moving very soon. Part of me is very excited about the opportunity and living so close to the Appalachians and everything out East. The other part of me is extremely sad to be leaving all of my great friends and the beautiful Arkansas countryside. I know I’ll miss this place and all of it’s wonderful people.
Stay tuned tomorrow for the first part of my Spring Break trip report.
Mar 21st 2008dbarnettAbout Me & Destinations
I know a few of you were worried about my safety with the torrential pouring rains that lasted 3 days and dumped a foot of water on the Buffalo. I’m back from my trip and I’m fine and dandy. Did everything go as planned? No way. Was it everything that I hoped? Not even close. Was it still fun? You bet! I’ll let you know everything that went down and all of the changes that were made to the itinerary starting next week.
Stay tuned Monday for some very exciting news from my life!
Jan 3rd 2008dbarnettAbout Me & Gear & Top Ten Lists
I’ve been pretty excited about telling everyone about my latest gear and now that Christmas is over, it’s time to spill the beans. Just like Wade , Santa was good to me this year to. Here’s a list of the gear I got:
1. The North Face Cat’s Meow.
2. The North Face Merino Wool Beanie.
3. Guyot Designs splashguard and squishy bowl set.
4. Steripen and steripen pre-filter.
5. Adventure Medical Kits Pocket Medic.
6. Sea to Summit Pocket Soap Leaves.
7. Sea to Summit Drylite Packtowel.
8. Coleman Xponent Pack-A-Way Lantern.
9. Salomon Boulder Mutation Jacket.
10. Smartwool Adrenaline Hiking Socks.
11. Zippo Slim (perfect for starting fires).
12. Leatherman Skeletool (which isn’t even out yet…it was an IOU from the Mom and Dad).
Well, I think that just about sums it up. I’ve gotta say, I’m pretty stoked. I’m a very spoiled man. I should have a whole lot of gear reviews to keep me busy for a while. I’m curious…what did all of my readers get? Leave a comment and let me know. Maybe I’ll get some ideas for my next purchases.
I thought I’d give everyone a REALLY quick update as to my life at this point. Christmas was awesome! It was my first married Christmas and it was waaay smoother than I thought it would be. It couldn’t have been any better. Plus, I got tons of awesome outdoor gadgets and goodies. I’ll be filling you in on all of the details soon, and I’ll follow up with gear reviews in the very near future.
Tomorrow, I’m heading to Branson, MO with the church youth group and we’ll be at a winter conference for a couple of days. I’ll update again when I return and should definitely be back into the swing of things after the new year. See ya then!
