Icebreaker Gloves

My wife has fallen in love with wool. She loves it. She especially loves the brand “Icebreaker.” Out of curiosity, I bought a pair of their wool gloves…just the basic midweight ones for $19.95. I must say I have been pretty impressed.

Now, I already knew some of the advantages of wool. Wool is naturally moisture-wicking. It also retains heat even when it’s soaking wet. However, I’ve never really liked wool very much. I guess I had too many itchy experiences when my mom would make me wear wool sweaters on Christmas to my Grandparent’s house that was already 15 degrees too warm. Because of my hatred of itchy clothing (that and the expensive pricetag on most quality wool), I’ve usually strayed away from wool products and stuck with items made of fleece and capilene.

I apparently have been living in the stone age. The gloves I bought fit great and they feel great too. They’re very warm and not itchy at all. I’m still not as sold out as my wife is on wool…mainly because I’m too cheap to dish out $80 for a shirt. However, these gloves are fantastic. One of the best pairs I’ve ever owned. They’re stylish and warm. They’ll make a great liner on really cold or wet days. A great glove for the midwest. They will come in very handy and I’m glad I bought them. Well worth the money spent. I give ‘em an “A.”

The Fog That Wouldn’t Leave

Wow, the weather here in Northwest Arkansas has been crazy all weekend. There’s been a fog thicker than any I’ve ever seen and it’s stuck around since Friday afternoon. Here it is Sunday night and it’s still here. I think it’s supposed to leave finally tomorrow.

We got some much needed rain this weekend and it’s supposed to keep on comin’ through most of next week. So, the bad news is I didn’t get a chance to canoe or barely even step outside. The good news is that when all is said and done, the river will hopefully be up and running again like it’s supposed to. Which means…I may be on the river next Saturday. I can only hope!

Man…I need a break

Well everyone, It’s been a crazy and stressful week. I’m probably going to hit up the upper Buffalo River this Saturday if it rains as much as it’s supposed to. We’ll have to see. If not, I’ll at least have something else interesting to report on Monday. For now…this is all you get…

Ain’t I a hunk?

TIME’s Person of the Year

Well, Time Magazine is on the hunt for it’s person of the year and the excitement is killing me. Let’s see who the nominees are…Bill Cosby…James Crosby…Britney Spears…Mother Earth. MOTHER EARTH? Are you kidding me? I’m all about the environment…but this is just ridiculous. I’m pretty sure the ex-NBC Nightly News Journalist is going senile. What is this world (excuse me for using your name in vain, Mother Earth) coming to when an imaginary being is even considered for “person of the year” from an influential magazine? Maybe I’m overreacting, but it’s pretty humorous to me.

You can read about it all at http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1689222,00.html

My vote for Time’s person of the year? It’s a tie between Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. Both have been very influential in shaping who I am.

Sweet Skillz!

Forgive me for not posting yesterday, I think something was wrong with my server. I’ve been looking forward to showing you this haha. This is a video I made on Friday. One of the kids I pick up a couple of times a week filmed it with my cell phone:

Well, I know this has nothing to do with the outdoors…but I thought I’d let you see what a typical day of work looks like for me. What can I say…I’m a baller! You know you wish you had my job.
